With 2019 coming an end, Nintendo fans everywhere can snuggle up to the fire, Lite’s in hand and play one of a large list of wonderful releases 2019 brought us. Of course, those same people will be looking to the future and what it could hold. What magic mysteries are Nintendo hiding? What fantastical new games await us in the new decade? Who knows? Not me. But I can always hope, and that is the basis of this article – My 2020 Nintendo Switch Wish List. Hold your applause.
Metroid Prime

Holy moly the delay of Metroid Prime 4 hit me like a truck going at 70. Metroid Prime dropped in the height of my childhood, and changed my life forever. I spent months pouring over magazine aritcles, the fledgling internet and nattering with my friends about how awesome this game was going to be. It dropped, I fell in love and the rest is history. The amount of hype I have for the sequel to ‘Corruption’ is palpable, but you know what? I would settle for a rerelease of the Metroid Prime Trilogy. Give me that Nintendo and I would set up a small cult in your honour.
More Shin Megami Tensei

Fans of Persona 5 were waiting with bated breath for months after Joker was announced for Smash. When’s the Switch Port coming? Why is Atlus holding out on us? Surely Joker heralds the second coming of Persona! Unfortunaltey the dream has died, and Persona 5 has fallen into the abyss. But that doesn’t mean we can’t have more SMT. Early next year we get Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Remastered, which was a mighty fine game on the Wii U, but what about SMT 5? This game has mostly went silent since its announcement like 3 years ago, so at the very least I want some new news on it. Heck, give us Persona 5 anyway. You know you want to…
Paper Mario

Paper Mario had two great games, one good game and a seemingly endless tirade of mediocre rubbish. I want a new Paper Mario in the style of Thousand Year Door. I don’t care how many innocents I need to sacrifice, just give me Paper Mario damn it. Especially now that the Mario and Luigi RPGs went and died a death this year.
Pikmin 4

Look, Mr Myamoto, you can’t be holding out on us like this. You have been teasing Pikmin 4 for years now. Give us Pikmin 4. The fans are ravenous, I am on the edge of my seat and the world is prepped for it’s glorious release. You know what, just announce it and remaster Pikmin 1-3. That will do. Just give us something to sate our needs. Shigero, I know you read my blog, so you know that what I am about to say comes from the heart – we need Pikmin to bring the joy of existing back to our empty, Pikminless lives.
Mario Kart

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is more popular than oxygen. It has a fanbase larger than most countries, and I am fairly certain if it ran for Priminister of the United Kingdom, it would win without breaking a sweat. We don’t need a new Mario Kart. Releasing one would be folly when the current remaster of the old one is selling this well. What I want to see is DLC. Lots and lots of DLC. Give us more characters from other Nintendo IP’s (Samus, Pitt, Kirby etc.), give us tracks based on these IP’s and prepare our brains for the mindblowing release of Super Smash Kart in 2021. You heard it here first folks.
F-Zero

How many years, nay, generations have we went without an F-Zero game? You teased us with Big Blue and Mute City in Mario Kart, yet have not followed up with a new entry in the Cap’s home series? Fix it. I don’t want gimmicks, I don’t want motion controls. I want speed injected directly into my blood stream and my body to convulse with an overwhelming sense of exhilaration. Just do it.
Buy Castlevania

I don’t want a new Castlevania. Konami have proven they are incapable of handling any of their franchises and it hurts my soul. Just buy the IP, requisition Capcom to make a sequel and watch as the population of earth bask in your radiant incandescence. ‘Make Castlevania Great Again’.
More Platinum

Take a handful of money, walk into Platinum’s main office and buy them. Buy them in their entirity and get them working on Bayonetta 4, a Wonderful 101 and Vanquish port – heck even a Metal Gear Rising Revengeance port. Buy them and embrace them like a 2nd Party developer and give us more games.
More Monolith

Monolith are awesome and have released two utterly brilliant RPG’s in the form of Xenoblade Chronicles on the Wii and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 on the Switch (review here). You know whats missing? The wonderfully bizzare Xenonblade Chronicles X. Tart it up, redo the soundtrack and release it. Xenoblade is a popular franchise that is only gathering more momentum. The Wii U sucked Nintendo, there was no way X was every going to do well. Fund a port and let the world experience it on a real console.
That’s all folks. Those are my hopes and dreams for 2020. Let me know in the comments below what you want to see in 2020, and whether or not you agree with my list (why wouldn’t you?! It’s perfect!).
